
Transportation in Athens
Athens International Airport
Athens International Airport (Eleftherios Venizelos) is located 33 km southeast of Athens and is easily accessible via Metro and buses. Public transport to Athens is provided by express airport bus connections (Express Line E95 Athens Airport Express/Syntagma) on a 24-hour basis. You can also take the Metro (Blue line only) to Syntagma Square in the very centre of Athens.
You can always find a taxi from the airport to the city centre.
Athens Metro
The Athens Metro network, strictly speaking, consists of 2 lines (Red Line and Blue Line) with trains arriving every 3 minutes at rush hours and every 5-10 minutes at all other times. The Athens Metro connects Syntagma Square to the Athens International Airport (Blue Line only). The trip takes approximately 30 minutes. The Metro runs from about 05.30 am until 00.00 pm.
A third line, not run by the Athens Metro organisation, is the Green Line, which runs partly above and partly below ground. This is the original metro line from Piraeus through the centre of Athens to Kifisia.
The same tickets are valid on all lines.
Useful tips
Inside the train, announcements are made before every stop.
Metro tickets are available from ticket offices on the stations and from automatic ticket machines. Remember to validate your ticket before you move on to the platform.
Using any kind of public transportation in the Athens area costs €1, for a duration of up to one and half-hours.
You may change transportation type as many times as you like within this period; you must validate your ticket at the beginning of the fist ride.
You may also buy a daily ticket for €3 or a weekly ticket for €10 (you can easily find those tickets in the Metro stations); you have to validate your ticket at the beginning of the first ride.
Buses
Three express lines serve the Athens International Airport to Athens City Centre route on a 24-hour basis. The bus line E95 (Direction Syntagma) serves Athens City centre (Syntagma, Constitution Square) The following timetable is applicable:

The current ticket price for the airport express line is €3. It allows for unlimited travel by all transport modes (bus, trolley, tram and metro) for 24 hours from the time of its validation during first trip (validates only once).
Useful tips
Tickets must be bought before boarding (from bus terminals and from the majority of kiosks) and validated in the designated machines (orange coloured) within the vehicles. To stop a bus for embarkation you must make a hand signal to the driver. To disembark you have to notify the driver by pressing the stop button in time. The OASA Call Centre (185 dialing from within Greece) operates from 07:00-21:00 on weekdays and from 09:00-17:00 on weekends. For further information please refer to the web site.
Conference Hotel Access
The Conference Hotel is situated in downtown Athens, 20 min walking distance from Syntagma Square. It is easily accessible using the Athens Metro Network; Metro Station "Megaron Moussikis" or "Evangelismos" (Blue Line).
From Airport by Taxi
An average journey by taxi from Eleftherios Venizelos Airport to Athens City Centre should take approximately 30-45 minutes, depending on the traffic. The cost of the ride should be around €30-35 each way.
